Watermelon Order on WhatsApp: What to Write for a Clear Quote

The five details to put in your watermelon WhatsApp order (variety, quantity, town, date and access), plus a template you can copy.

Watermelon Order on WhatsApp: What to Write for a Clear Quote

Every watermelon order starts with a WhatsApp message, and the quality of the reply depends a lot on what that first message says. A note that reads "how much for watermelon?" leads to a string of follow-up questions. A message that already names the variety, the quantity, the town, the date and the access at the drop point gets a clear quote back in one go. This guide breaks down the five things to include, shows a ready-to-copy template, and lists the small gaps that most often slow a quote down.

Why a complete first message matters

Watermelon prices move with the season and the stock on hand, so every price we list is an estimate and today's figure is confirmed on WhatsApp. To confirm it, we need to know what you want, how much, where it is going and when. If any of those is missing, the reply has to ask for it, and the quote waits until you answer.

A complete message also helps us plan the delivery properly. The size of the load decides the vehicle, the town decides the route, and the access at your address decides whether a van or a lorry is the right choice. When all of that is in the first message, the quote you get back is the one you can act on.

The five details every order message needs

Think of these five points as a checklist. You do not need fancy wording; short lines are perfectly fine.

1. Variety

Name the watermelon you want. The range on the price list on our homepage covers red seeded watermelon, seedless watermelon, mini watermelon and mixed-size watermelon, and young coconut can be added to a watermelon order. If you are not sure which fits, say what the fruit is for and we can suggest one.

A quick guide to choosing

  • Red seeded: crunchy, sweet flesh and the lowest price per kilo; suits stalls, markets and juice
  • Seedless: easy to cut and serve with no seeds to pick out; suits hotels, caterers and kenduri
  • Mini: small, for one or two people; suits gift boxes, office pantries and retail shelves
  • Mixed-size: assorted sizes in one load; suits resellers and roadside stalls

Yellow watermelon is seasonal and depends on current stock, so if you would like some, ask about it in the same message and we will tell you whether it is available.

2. Quantity, in the unit you are ordering by

State the amount and the unit: pieces, kilos or tonnes. Each has its own minimum, so it helps to know them before you write:

  • By the piece: from 20 pieces (for example seedless at an estimated RM13 per piece)
  • By the kilo: from 50 kg (mixed-size by the kilo from 500 kg)
  • By the lorry load: from 1 tonne

If you only know your guest count, give us that and use the quantity guide as a starting point. The rule of thumb is about 0.25 kg per guest, so 300 guests come to roughly 75 kg, which is about 17 seedless pieces at around 4.5 kg each.

For regular orders

If you run a stall, fruit shop, juice shop or pasar malam pitch and want a standing order, say how often you need stock (weekly, or by market day) and the usual amount per drop. We give early notice when the season or stock changes.

3. Town and full address

Give the town first, then the full address with a postcode. The town lets us plan the route straight away; the address pins down the exact drop point. Orders for Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Ipoh are all planned the same way on WhatsApp, with the delivery date and slot confirmed when the order is set. A map pin shared in the chat is a useful extra.

4. The date you need it

Write the date you want the fruit to arrive, not only the date of your event. If the event is on a Saturday but you want the melons on Friday so there is time to chill and cut, say so. If your date is flexible, mention a range; it gives more room to fit you into a delivery slot.

5. Access at the drop point

This is the detail people most often leave out, and it matters more than it seems. Watermelon is heavy, and the vehicle depends on the load: up to 300 kg goes by van, up to 1,000 kg by a 1-tonne lorry and up to 3,000 kg by a 3-tonne lorry, with several lorries for anything larger.

What to tell us about access

  • Whether a lorry can reach the spot, or only a van (narrow lanes, low gates, height limits)
  • Where to unload: shop front, back lane, loading bay, hall kitchen or field
  • Any stairs, lifts or long walks between the vehicle and the drop point
  • The name of the person receiving on site, so the delivery is not left waiting

A message template you can copy

Here is a simple structure that covers everything. Copy it, fill in the brackets and send. There is no need to start with a long introduction; jump straight to the details.

  • Variety: [seedless / red seeded / mini / mixed-size, plus young coconut if needed]
  • Quantity: [number] [pieces / kg / tonnes]
  • Town: [town]
  • Address: [full address with postcode]
  • Date needed: [date, or a date range]
  • Access: [van only / lorry OK, where to unload]
  • Receiver on site: [name]
  • Purpose: [kenduri, hotel buffet, stall stock, gift boxes, etc.]

A filled-in example might read: seedless watermelon, 40 pieces, Johor Bahru, community hall kitchen, needed on the 12th, van access through the side gate, receiver is the event organiser. That one line gives us everything we need to come back with today's price, stock and a delivery slot.

Common gaps that slow a quote down

Most delays come from a handful of missing details. Checking these before you hit send saves a round of questions.

Quantity without a unit

"50 watermelon" could mean 50 pieces or 50 kg, and those are very different orders. Always add the unit.

A district instead of an address

A district name is a good start, but the final quote needs the exact drop point. Two places with similar names can sit far apart.

No word on access

If a lorry turns up at a lane only a van can enter, the delivery has to be rearranged. A single line about access avoids that.

Asking for a price without the order details

Our estimated prices are on the homepage, but the price you pay is confirmed against your quantity, date and stock on the day. Sending the full details is the fastest way to get a firm number, and the delivery cost is stated in the same quote.

What happens after you send it

Once your message arrives, the process is short:

  1. We check today's price and stock for the variety and quantity you asked for
  2. We reply with a quote that includes the delivery cost and the vehicle for your load
  3. You confirm, and the delivery date and slot are set
  4. The fruit is delivered to the drop point you described

If anything changes on your side, such as the guest count or the date, reply in the same chat so the order stays in one thread. When the season or stock shifts on our side, we let regular customers know early.
